Editorial & Sources Policy

TrendExplained explains the topics people are searching for right now, in plain English. This page sets out how we choose, research, write and correct our articles.

How we choose topics

We track what people are searching for across money, technology, entertainment, sports, travel and autos, and pick topics where a clear explanation is genuinely useful. We avoid stories built on tragedy, rumour or gossip.

How we research

  • We use original and authoritative sources wherever possible: official announcements, government and regulator websites, company statements and established news organisations.
  • Every article lists the sources we used, with links, so you can check them yourself.
  • We separate confirmed facts from estimates and projections, and label projections clearly.

How we write

  • Each article starts with a short quick answer, then explains what happened, why it matters and what to check.
  • We write in plain language and explain any jargon.
  • Money, health and insurance articles carry a “general information, not advice” note and an updated date.
  • We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Every article is checked against its sources before publishing.

Updates and corrections

Topics change fast. We update articles when key facts change and show the latest updated date. If you spot an error, please email hello@trendexplained.com with the page link and the correction. We review every report and fix confirmed errors promptly.

Independence and advertising

The site is funded by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we cover it, and we don’t accept payment for coverage. Ads are clearly separated from article content.

Images

We use licensed or free-to-use images, such as photos from Unsplash, and credit them where required.
